Downieville
Packer Saddle Shuttle Drop
We all went to Downieville for two days for Tim's bachelors party and to go mtn. biking. It was me, Miguel, Tim, Neil, Veej, Joe, and Robert. We had a great time Mtn. biking and just hanging out. There were a couple of bad things that happened. Tim crashed early on during the downhill. We had went approximately two miles before the mishap. He bent the rim and seat to where you couldn't ride it. We all pitched in and eventually fixed the bike to where he could push it. Instead of going the rest of the way down Neil accompanied Tim to go back to the top of the desent to catch a ride back down with a shuttle.
Tim's rental all bent up.
Chill'in out!
The camping site was nice. I was expecting a lot of mosquitos but there weren't that many at all. I was also expecting it to be cold at night but every night we were there was warm. There were times at night where wearing your sleeping bag would be to warm.
The Desent started at "Packer saddle shuttle drop" which is 7219ft in elevation. We then took "Sunshine" trail to "Butcher Ranch trail", to "3rd Divide", to "Lavezolla creek road", to "upper first divide", then back to "Lavezolla creek road", down back to Downieville. I think the whole trip took us around 3.5 to 4 hours. We took a lot of breaks and stopped for photo oppurtunities. I also had my gopro camera and got some good video of what these trails are like.
The beginning of 3rd divide desent.
There was everything for everybody. The trails had all types of terrain from drop offs, jumps, sand, real technical, fast flowing, switchbacks, berms, lots of downhill fast sections, trees, rocks, everything you can imagine a trail would have Downieville had. There were crashes too. Everybody crashed at least once. I had a moment but I didn't go down I just had to grab a tree to prevent me from falling. I guess when you're pushing your limits to the envelope you always want to see how far you can go. Even with the crashes it was still too much fun.
