Mojave in August

I haven't been entering posts and I feel a little guilty about it. Well better late then never. In August I went desert camping and took the 2 Sumo's. Both the XT & the DRZ. Both still had their street tires. We did some dirt biking in the heat. I've been desert camping before at Joshua Tree but the Mojave seemed more majestic to me. Mojave seemed more out of the way too. If I had to pick between the two I'd probably pick Mojave again because of the good dirt trail riding. I also saw my first desert dunes and now know how desert dunes are formed.

The weather was Hot when we went. The average daytime temps were always above 100 degrees. Some people even asked me, "you went to the desert in Aug? Are you Crazy? The heat is still burning during that time". The crazy thing is that while we were there 2 people had died of overexposure to the sun. Our group was prepared for the sun and heat. We knew our limits, We knew first aid, I've been somewhat trained in environments like this and I have desert camping experience. I knew we would be hitting hot temps but part of the allure for me is seeing if I can hack environments like that.

This little guy I found on my backpack one late afternoon.

Here's a shot of a Joshua Tree in the Daylight sun

This is a shot of my bro and I riding 'Wild horse Canyon'. We actually got to ride with wild horses. One of the days we were riding in the canyon 3 wild stallions came running by me, Joe, & my bro. It was a beautiful site riding beside these horses as they ran. I felt like a cowboy. The redneck in me was showing for sure.

This is Teutonia Peak. We did a hike in the middle of the day in the freaking heat. It was well over the tripple digit mark.
